The School of Foreign Languages(SFL)atAnhui University of Technologyislocated at the foot of Jia Mountain and beside Yushan Lake in Ma'anshan City, which has been nourished by poetry and literature for a thousand years and is known as the "Ecological Paradise and Intelligent Manufacturing City". Relying on the university's advantages of being mainly focused on engineeringand closely integrating government, industry, academia, research, and application, the school aims to meet the demand for international talents in the country's economic and social development and the "Belt and Road" initiative. It adheres to the concept of "integrating Chinese and Western learning and unifying knowledge with action", and explores a new path for the development of liberal arts characterized by multilingual proficiency, interdisciplinary integration, and the convergence of liberal arts and engineering. Currently, the school has three master's degree programs: Business English Studies, Translation (MTI), and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. It offers three English-related undergraduate programs: English (a national first-class undergraduate major constructionsite), Translation, and Business English, as well as an authorization for adualbachelor's degree in Business English.

SFL’sEnglish major has a history of nearly 40 years. It is a national first-class undergraduate major and one of the first provincial first-class majors, as well as a provincial comprehensive reform pilot major. Graduates are widely employed in central state organs such as the International Liaison Departmentof the CPC Central Committee, local government organs such as provincial and municipal foreign affairs offices, educational institutions such as primary and secondary schools and universities, and large and medium-sized enterprises in various fields including metallurgy and materials, biopharmaceuticals, new energy, and information technology. They play an important bridging role in the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative" and serve the society in regional work such as the successful creation of the Ma'anshan Taipinggong AAAA scenic area.

SFLcurrently has five research centers, namely, the Center for Linguistics, the Center for Translation, the Center forForeign-related Rule of Law, the Center for Literature and Culture, and the Center for Bilingual Studies of Chinese Classics, as well as an English Language Comprehensive Experiment Center. It is equipped with modern information-based language laboratories. It has established 23 internship and training bases with renowned enterprises such as Hujiang and iFlytek.

SFLhas a total of 108 staff members, including 93 full-time teachers (teaching English, German, Japanese, Russian, Korean, Frenchand Chinese). There are 6 professors and 18 associate professors. 16faculty members have doctoral degrees (including 4 who are currently pursuing their doctoral studies), and 25 have overseas study experience. Among them, there is 1 provincial teaching master and 3 provincial teaching stars. Three teachers have won the second place/second prize in national teaching competitions. Currently, there are 966 full-time undergraduate students and 55 postgraduate students.

SFLis a council member of the Translators Association of China, the secretary-general unit of the Specialized Committee for Phonetics Teaching Research of the Chinese Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese, the vice president unit of the Anhui Society for Foreign Languages and Literatures, the secretary-general unit of the Translation Teaching Working Committee of the Anhui Foreign Language Society, a member unit of the Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Innovation Alliance, and a member unit of the Language Resources Network.

SFLhas obtained 4 projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation (with 2 completed), and approximately 200 provincial and ministerial-level projects. It has won over 10 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research and teaching achievement awards. In the past five years, it has been recommended for one national first-class course, and has been approved for one provincial-level excellent online teaching classroom, one provincial-level smart classroom, two provincial-level demonstration courses, 11 provincial-level ideological and political courses, 10 provincial-level MOOC courses, and 13 various types of excellent and shared resource courses. The textbook "Selected Readings of Das Kapital" (in full English), edited by the college's teachers, is collected in the Chinese Embassy in London, UK. It has hosted and co-hosted many international, national and provincial conferences. It has provided volunteer language services for the China-Europe Academy Forum hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the European Academy of Sciences, the China-US Engineering Technology Symposium - New Generation Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Manufacturing Forum hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Global Outsourcing Conference initiated by the Asia Pacific CEO Association (APCEO), and the ASEAN "10+3 Meeting" hosted by the Ministry of Commerce.
